#followfriday

| 2 Comments | No TrackBacks

Been meaning to do this for a while. A list of people I recommend to follow with brief reasons why. This is going to be fairly epic so it'll be a work in progress for a while. I'll start by simply listing them. Scratch that, it's always going to be a work in progress and you can guarantee I'll miss people, so to them I'll apologise.

UPDATE: I've started adding some of the reasons I follow these people and/or why you might want to follow them. It's going to take me a while to work through them.

UPDATE2: 4 bloody months I've been working on this. I'm beginning to regret starting it now. But I'm adding more people as I get to know them, removing a few who no longer tweet or who I don't actively follow and continuing to add reasons.

Kelly Brook in 3D

| 1 Comment | No TrackBacks
Kelly Brook shows off her curves in a figure-hugging pink PVC dress at the British GQ Men of the Year Awards in London

Kelly Brook is appearing in a 3D movie wearing nowt but a Bikini.

The film, Piranha 3-D, which otherwise sounds decidedly "B Movie-esque", is due for release in the UK in April 2010.

Kelly told GMTV it would be a treat for any male viewers, revealing: "I spent my summer kind of battling piranhas - which is all on a green screen - and it's going to be full of lots of blood and girls in bikinis ... the boys will love it."

Here's hoping the 3D version gets an IMAX release.

Check out the related article for what are rumoured to be photos of Kelly on set in the bikini.

I'm off to recover my political correctness from the gutter where it appears to have fallen.

Mayor Of Londons Skyride - Photocall

I'm not a cyclist, but the publicity for this event included photos of Kelly Brook, which is reason enough for me to include it on my site.

Boris Johnson joined Kelly to launch the Mayor of London's Skyride. The event, on 20 September, is expected to be the biggest mass participation cycling event ever held in the capital.

The Mayor of London's Skyride will give tens of thousands of cyclists the chance to enjoy traffic-free city centre roads for the day, encouraging riders of all ages and abilities to get on their bikes with friends and family.

The route for the free event will take riders past landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and The Tower of London and will feature St James Park and the river views of The Embankment.

Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, said: "It's been a great summer of cycling in London, with more and more people discovering that ours is a fantastic city in which to go by two wheels. We had some 11,000 at our Hounslow event, and the central London extravaganza promises to be the biggest and best yet. The fantastic thing about it is the huge range of people who take part - whatever your age or ability you can come and join in our free, unique, and most importantly fun, celebration of the best way of getting around."

Kelly Brook said: "I'm delighted to be involved in the Skyride initiative and can't wait to take part on September 20th. I really enjoy cycling and anything that reminds people how much fun it can be is a fantastic idea. It doesn't matter if you're an experienced cyclist or getting back on your bike again for the first time in ages, the Mayor of London's Skyride will be a great day out for all ages and abilities."

Anyone associating Ms Brook with "bike" jokes in the comments will be banned permanently.

And just for extra measure, here's a photo of Kelly at the GQ, Men o fthe Year Awards.

Robert Burns's Red Red Rose

Photograph of a rose.

O my Luve's like a red, red rose
That's newly sprung in June:
O my Luve's like the melodie
That's sweetly play'd in tune.

As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I:
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry:

Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi' the sun;
I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o' life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only Luve
And fare thee weel, a while!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho' it were ten thousand mile.

The Cheesy Tune the Changed your Life

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
BT_img.gifOn Friday 11th September I will be doing a short (an hour or so) DJ slot at Brum Twestival.

It will be a cheestastic, Abba, YMCA and Dexy's wedding disco squeezed into whatever time I have available. With the small amount of time available to me, the set will probably be largely planned. However, I will be accepting requests, both in advance and, if possible, on the night.

I am inviting, however, one special request. I will be playing one special dedication. That dedication will go to the person with the best "Cheesy Tune that Changed my Life."

Have you ever listened to the Changing Tracks bit on Radio 1? Where you request a tune that changed your life and Sara Cox or Jo Whiley read your story out on radio over a suitably emotional backing track? Well, this is like that but with cheese.

Email me on theaardvark[at]gmail.com with your request and your sob story / uplifting story and I will play the best request / story toward the end of the night.

Requests for the Birdie Song, YMCA or Black Lace will be disregarded unless accompanied by a very (very, very) good and plausible story.
